Heart to Heart - Community Health

WATER In many parts of the world, access to clean water is a matter of life and death. Volunteers help us address this water crisis by installing water filters, educating communities on the causes of water-related illnesses and providing medicine for children to prevent serious diseases.	SANITATION Better sanitation facilities improve health in every community. Strategic partners and volunteers help us build latrines and sewage systems with significant input from community leaders in developing countries.	HYGIENE By teaching children the importance of proper handwashing techniques and delivering hygiene kits to regions affected by natural disasters, volunteers help us prevent the spread of deadly germs and promote a brighter future for people in underserved communities.

MEDICAL SERVICES
Heart to Heart International deploys volunteers to assist in strengthening the capacity of healthcare workers and improving access to essential health services everywhere we work. Whether screening patients, providing primary care, training physicians and nurses or referring patients for additional medical care—we always seek to improve health in underserved communities across America and around the world.

TRANSFORMING COMMUNITIES
The concentration of Heart to Heart International on community health is transforming the quality of life for people in many countries, including the United States. By seeking input from local sources, building strong coalitions with a common purpose and expanding our volunteer movement, we are creating healthier communities and breaking intergenerational cycles of poverty. In short, our volunteers bring hope for a better future, and communities start to see how they can solve local problems with local resources. Every health-focused program we develop has the same goal: to work ourselves out of a job in that community.
