Nearly 3 million people live and work in the state of Kansas, but Ingram's Magazine selects only 50 of them each year to highlight in its annual listing of "50 Kansans You Should Know" in its February issue. This year, Andre Butler, Heart to Heart's CEO, made the list.

He was nominated by Heart to Heart's Board of Directors for his 13 years of extraordinary service and leadership to the organization. During his tenure, Butler has led our fundraising efforts and is instrumental in making Heart to Heart a household name among the world's leading pharmaceutical companies -- which donate $80 million-$100 million worth of medical aid every year.

He became CEO in August 2010 and has made volunteerism the cornerstone of his leadership platform.

Though he said he was honored to be named to Ingram's prestigious list, Butler isn't interested in pursuing personal glory. Instead, he said the driving force behind his role at Heart to Heart is the global network of volunteers, partners and donors who help us move communities from survivability to sustainability every day.

"The amazing thing about this 20-year-old organization, " Butler added, "is that we can be and do so much more for a world in need."
