Project Work Plan

Objective 1. Renovation/improvement of the physical infrastructure of the Fotabong sub-divisional hospital in order to provide quality healthcare.

The following activities will be conducted to achieve this goal:

  1. Assessment and renovation of the original facility of the Fotabong hospital in order to enable it meet minimum standards of care.
  2. Specific renovation of the original facility will include:
    1. Repair or replacement of the roof (completed)
    2. Water supply to the hospital (water tower built to catch rain during the rainy season – piping was placed to run water into the original facility)
    3. Rewiring of entire building, establishing better electrical grid (completed) – purchased a backup generator for emergency situations
    4. Split the pharmacy into two operational pharmacies (completed)
    5. Reinforce the plastering on the walls (completed)
    6. New table with two sinks and tiling in the laboratory (completed)
    7. Tiling and renovations in the operating and delivery rooms (completed)
    8. Renovations to the patient showers and toilets (completed)
    9. Painting of the entire building

 


 

Objective 2. Strengthen the human resource capacity of the Fotabong hospital to enable it to provide quality healthcare to the population.

Activities to meet this objective include:

  1. Provision of a resident doctor and a nurse to compliment the government’s effort of the assigned district medical officer.
  2. Support of community healthcare worker’s stipends including assistant pharmacy, community nurse, laboratory technician, cleaner and security.
  3. Training of community healthcare workers/volunteers for additional skill for pharmacy, nursing, laboratory—etc.

 


 

Objective 3.  Strengthen maternal child healthcare of the Fotabong hospital by improving its services, infrastructure and referral systems.

The following activities will be conducted to achieve this goal:

  1. Renovation of the maternity facility in order to enable it to function and provide maternal child services.
  2. Specific renovation of the maternity facility will include:
    1. Repair of the roof
    2. Water supply
    3. Repair of piping to and throughout the building
    4. Electricity
    5. Doors and windows
    6. Screen to keep chickens and mosquitos out
    7. New delivery beds
    8. Painting of the entire building
  3. Develop a referral system for pregnant women including an emergency plan for every expected delivery. (completed purchase)
  4. An ambulance transportation vehicle to refer emergency cases to Mary Health of Africa hospital. (completed)
  5. Develop a community health care program to support maternal health care. (completed)

 


Objective 4: Strengthen the Dialogue Structure via community leadership and engagement.

In order to achieve the mission of the “H4H by community serves” the Fotabong community will need to be actively engaged in order to fully own the process. Activities aimed at strengthening the leadership of the health committee will include:

  1. Training of leadership skills to the health committee. (started)
  2. Development of a community healthcare program.
