Contractors rally to help renovate Heart to Heart’s Global Distribution Center
OLATHE, Kan./May 25, 2005 — Heart to Heart International Inc., the heartland’s humanitarian organization, today announced that work has begun on Phase II renovations of its Global Distribution Center located at 1021 Pacific Ave. in Kansas City, Kan. The 50-year-old building serves as Heart to Heart’s shipping, receiving and storage facility — as well as the launch pad for the organization’s volunteer initiatives.
“This facility is our most valuable asset and is literally the nerve center of our humanitarian operations,” said Jon North, Heart to Heart’s CEO. “Through this renovation project, which has been supported by many local businesses and individuals, we are simply trying to bring the capabilities of the Global Distribution Center into the 21st Century and, in turn, facilitate our growth and development as an organization.”
Similar to the hit TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” which recently visited the Kansas City area, local contractors have lent a hand in the renovations and are helping Heart to Heart reach more people in need.
Heart to Heart is in the midst of a five-phase renovation project that will be completed by year’s end. The first phase dealt with replacement of the roof. Phase II deals with improvements to the electrical systems and installing a more efficient heating and cooling system. Among the contractors that are helping on this phase of renovation are Air Design Heating & Cooling, CFM Distributors, Haggard Hauling & Rigging, Pearson Kent McKinley Raaf Engineers, and Reddy Electric. Phase II renovations are scheduled to be completed by mid-June.
Businesses and individuals interested in supporting the remaining phases of this renovation project should inquire Heart to Heart about receiving Kansas Tax Credits.
