Heart to Heart continues hurricane relief with help from DEMDACO

OLATHE, Kan./September 6, 2005 — Heart to Heart International Inc., the Midwest’s humanitarian organization, today announced that DEMDACO has committed both financial assistance and product donations to help in the relief effort following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The company has committed a matching gift of up to $50,000 and its employees are assembling 1,000 personal hygiene kits tomorrow morning for delivery to hurricane-affected regions.

“We applaud the efforts of companies like DEMDACO who see the tremendous need along the Gulf Coast and choose to respond from their hearts,” said Jon D. North, Heart to Heart’s CEO.

“DEMDACO is going the extra mile to aid in our relief efforts by giving not only cash, but also much-needed product.”

This morning on local radio station KUDL-98.1 FM, North and DEMDACO CEO David Kiersznowski shared the news of the gift with morning hosts Dan Hurst and Darcie Blake, and they encouraged other listeners to follow suit.

“We believe in what Heart to Heart is doing and our employees wanted to do something tangible to help victims of Hurricane Katrina,” Kiersznowski said. “We know that there are other caring individuals and companies out there that are looking for a way to help out. I encourage them to follow their hearts and to give to a trusted local organization like Heart to Heart International.”

Heart to Heart has already delivered medicines and supplies to New Orleans, where the organization has established a local presence and distribution center south of the city in Jefferson Parish. It has also sent aid to evacuees in Houston and Memphis.

So far, Heart to Heart has collected 80-100 tons of donated relief supplies. Additional supplies may be dropped off at all Kansas City Sam’s Club locations this Friday evening and all day Saturday, Sept. 9-10.
