OLATHE, Kan./December 16, 2006 — Heart to Heart International Inc., a leading global humanitarian organization, today said it is responding to needs in the Philippines after Typhoon Durian recently slammed into the archipelago. The typhoon was one of the worst storms to hit the Philippines in more than a century.
Hear to Heart’s relief efforts mark the first activation of a Forward Response Center (FRC) after announcing the partnership with FedEx last month.
“Our FRC worked as expected,” said Dr. Jeff DeGraffenreid, Heart to Heart’s vice president for global crisis response. “After identified the needs and determined the best local partner in addressing those needs, we activated the FRC in Subic Bay and released 5 tons of relief supplies, which were transported to help typhoon victims in the Philippines.”
The aid shipment consisted mostly of blankets and germ-fighting hygiene products.
Heart to Heart continues to provide relief on crisis victims in nearly a dozen world areas, including the United States. The organization is requesting financial support for its Crisis Relief Fund.
