Mobile Medical Team rushes to Greensburg, Kan., after twister devastates town
OLATHE, Kan./May 5, 2007 — Heart to Heart International Inc., a leading global humanitarian organization, today announced that it is sending its Mobile Medical Unit to the southwestern Kansas community of Greensburg, where a F5 tornado struck last night, leaving the small rural town without essential services.
“The town has been completely flattened and people with major injuries have been ambulated to communities as far away as Dodge City,” said Dr. Gary Morsch, Heart to Heart’s president and founder, who is on site in Greensburg. “The hospital suffered incredible damage and we’ve been asked to assist with minor injuries and caring for the emergency workers as they get services back on line.”
Dr. Morsch was at a rural clinic in the region when the twister hit. He has served at the Greensburg hospital through his medical practice, Docs Who Care.
Heart to Heart is sending an advance team with the Mobile Medical Unit to provide acute care in Greensburg and surrounding areas. The team will leave Heart to Heart’s world headquarters (401 S. Clairborne) at 2 p.m. this afternoon.
Heart to Heart is requesting financial assistance as it helps tornado victims in Kansas and other people in crisis around the world.
