Heart to Heart honors Hallmark, remarkable couple at annual gala

OLATHE, Kansas/September 6, 2007—Heart to Heart International Inc., a leading global humanitarian organization, announced today that it will honor Hallmark Cards and Dr. Richard and Virginia Austin Schubert with the Heart of Humanity and Power of One Award, respectively, at its annual gala tonight.

The local greeting-card company and the Washington D.C.-based couple will be showcased at the organization’s 2007 “Celebration of the Heart” event, which takes place at 7 p.m. tonight at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center.

“We are thrilled to honor Hallmark and the Schuberts for their enduring commitment to our humanitarian mission and their example to others that a community of purpose can make a difference in our world,” said Dr. Gary Morsch, Heart to Heart’s president and founder. “Without their support—and hundreds of companies and thousands of individuals like them—we would not be able to help people locally or globally.”

Hallmark Cards began supporting Heart to Heart International in 1997 and has not stopped. Not only does the company donate millions of dollars worth of product, but it also contributes to our humanitarian work and engages its employees to volunteer and support our local initiatives.

The Schuberts are active humanitarians. Dr. Schubert has led such organizations as the American Red Cross, the Points of Light Foundation and the International Youth Foundation. Ms. Austin Schubert has help leadership roles with the International Association of Junior Leagues, Family Matters and the Points of Light Foundation. This remarkable couple traveled with Heart to Heart to China in 1998 as part of an ongoing health initiative powered by volunteers and fell in love with the work. They are focused on bringing health and wholeness to Africa through their nonprofit, Friends of Zambia, which Heart to Heart supports on an annual basis with medical aid.

Attendees of tonight’s event will also be treated to the soulful sounds of South African jazz artist Jonathan Butler.
