Olathe-based humanitarian group joins 6 other nonprofits based in the KC region
OLATHE, Kan. (November 20, 2009) — Heart to Heart International Inc., one of America’s most efficient humanitarian organizations, today announced that it was ranked near the top half of the “Philanthropy 400,” an annual analysis of America’s top nonprofits by the Chronicle of Philanthropy. The list was published in the magazine’s Oct. 29 edition.
Heart to Heart came in at #208 on the “Philanthropy 400” and joined six other nonprofits from the Kansas City region—the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation (114), Children International (145), the University of Kansas (173), the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (205), Kansas State University (358), and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (375).
“We are always proud to be listing among the leading nonprofits in America,” said Jon D. North, Heart to Heart’s CEO. “This ranking is really a statement about the trust our donors place in Heart to Heart to fulfill our humanitarian mission.”
The data was collected from the 2008 fiscal year. Despite 2008 being the front end of the global recession, Heart to Heart was still able to generate nearly $102.6 million in private support—much of it in donations of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
Heart to Heart is seeking additional financial support to augment its donations of medical aid. The organization is asking the public to donate in the following ways:
