Lab and Clinic Services
Improving laboratory services and supporting safety-net clinics is a big part of our mission.
Lab work – drawing blood, running tests – is essential to making the right diagnosis and to provide the correct treatment. We improve lab services by engaging trained experts, providing equipment and developing protocols where it’s most needed – in under-served and vulnerable communities.
Laboratory Standards Training
Developing labs and raising laboratory standards in Haiti is a critical part of our overall work in that country. Working in collaboration with BD (Becton Dickinson) we have created two full-service labs and trained nearly 250 lab managers in best practices since 2011.
We provide continuing education for lab technicians and managers to bring labs in Haiti up to exacting World Health Organization standards. And we’ve set up mentoring networks for Haitian lab managers to collaborate with their American and international counterparts.

Drawing on the successful experience in Haiti, we replicated the lab standards training program in Papua New Guinea.
In partnership with BD and Australian Doctors International, we developed and implemented a one-week laboratory training program, teaching World Health Organization Laboratory Standards to lab managers on the island of New Ireland in Papua New Guinea.

Safety-Net Clinic Package
We’ve developed a Point of Care test menu for safety-net clinics in the US and can provide a full Clinic Package to provide laboratory testing with timely results – allowing a physician to diagnose and treat patients on-site. We also provide connections to reagent and supply replenishment, access to competency training and can coordinate volunteer lab technicians.
