The Portable Pharmacy

Every year, Heart to Heart resources hundreds of medical teams and healthcare facilities around the world with vital shipments of medical aid. Our ability to provide quality medicines and supplies in a timely manner is one of the hallmarks of our health-focused programs.

Much of the work starts with our Custom Order service and ends up being handled at the nerve center of our humanitarian operations—the Global Distribution Center in Kansas City.

Our primary goal is to provide medical groups with the best medical aid to meet as many health needs as possible.

We recently developed an innovative product in partnership with BD called the Ready Relief Box™. Aimed at volunteers involved in medical missions, it is essentially a portable pharmacy and contains all the necessary medicines, supplies and diagnostic instruments to assess and treat 400-500 people per box.

The suitcase-like Ready Relief Box can withstand the rigors of international travel—as witnessed in the recent cyclone response in Myanmar. Despite a lack of medical aid initially flowing into the country following the disaster, our humanitarian partners delivered the Ready Relief Box to several locations in the Irrawaddy Delta, where entire communities had no access to reliable health services. According to our partner, the Ready Relief Box was “exactly what the doctor ordered” and helped treat hundreds of people in crisis.
