Pacific Rim Crises

Over a matter of days, tropical storms, earthquakes and tidal waves pounded countries along the Pacific Rim. Lives were disrupted; lives were lost. Injuries mounted and hospitals were overwhelmed.

From the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia to Indonesia, Samoa and Tonga, millions of people have been displaced by natural disasters. Tens of thousands have been injured. People are trying to pick up the pieces scattered by Mother Nature. many of mourning the loss of loved ones.

Heart to Heart is rushing to be part of the healing process.

Our immediate response is to send requested medical aid to hospitals, clinics and health outposts treating an massive influx of injured and sick patients. We are mobilizing some key resources that are perfect for this type of response:

• The Ready Relief Box can be hand-carried to remote and hard-to-reach areas to treat 400-500 people
• The Medical Surge Module can increase capacity at healthcare facilities by providing enough medical supplies for 2,000 patient encounters
• The Personal Hygiene Kit can protect individuals in crowded shelters or exposed environments from deadly germs by providing hygiene care for up to two weeks

Using these items, Heart to Heart is planning to work with our global transportation partners at FedEx to address the medical needs of more than 100,000 people.
