Heart to Heart is willing to walk the long road to restoration with communities around the world. The longest part of the journey involves the cooperative effort between local leaders and individual citizens as they determine how best to reconstruct their community. Our primary focus is the Rebuilding phase is to restore vitality to the healthcare infrastructure and address issues that affect community health.

One example of our role in rebuilding lives and communities is in Sri Lanka, where we have been working since the Great Indian Ocean Tsunami struck this island-nation off the coast of India in December 2004. Our UP Teams train healthcare workers, connect professionals within the medical community, improve health and hygiene education, and address sanitation issues within the community. Though most of our “rebuilding” efforts focus on local capacity, we have also constructed several buildings to restore mental and occupational health in vulnerable communities.
You can rebuild a community when you support our Crisis Response Fund.
