Recovering Essential Services

After the intense Response phase is complete, community leaders often face the lonely and daunting task of recovering essential services and replacing critical personnel who may have been injured or killed in the crisis. Heart to Heart works alongside local officials to ensure the community has what it needs to move forward.

We tap into our volunteer base to find technical experts who can assist in critical roles on Unified Professional (UP) Teams during the Recovery phase.

For instance, Heart to Heart is working with Chinese health officials to re-establish a network of rural clinics damaged by a massive earthquake that struck Sichuan Province in May 2008. Our UP Teams are working on this initiative to satisfy a stated need from our Advance Teams: With damaged roads, it is difficult for residents of outlying towns and villages to reach a source of reliable healthcare.
