When disasters strike, Heart to Heart leads a quality medical response. Our primary focus is to save lives by addressing the healthcare needs of people in crisis.
We ensure that we meet the most pressing needs during a crisis by first sending Advance Teams to assess the healthcare infrastructure and establish a logistics chain with local response agencies to deliver medical aid and other relief supplies. We train these teams to identify the imbalance between humanitarian needs and local healthcare capacity to satisfy the need. The teams are skilled at determining obstacles to an effective response and mitigating those challenges. They establish a strategy that guides our response and lead us through the implementation of the strategy. It sounds complex, but these teams are very efficient and quickly mobilize us to respond to people in crisis.

Anytime Heart to Heart responds to a crisis, we activate a set of Global Operations (GO) Teams that provide critical services at a disaster site. Our GO Teams are comprised of skilled volunteers who provide medical care, address mental trauma, manage our supply chain, and report findings to key stakeholders.
Because Heart to Heart is a hands-on organization, we also mobilize a group of Readiness Equipped Volunteer (REV) Teams to provide back office support in our call center and collection sites. These teams are often based near our headquarters in Kansas City. Though their role appears mundane, we value every minute they give us.
