When disaster strikes a community, it is difficult to imagine something better emerging from the ruins. Still, we dare to dream with local leaders and residents, because we know that those dreams inspire hope and keep everyone moving in a productive direction throughout the Rebuilding phase.

We recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of our tornado-relief efforts in Greensburg, Kansas. Over an intense 45-day period, our GO Teams served as the primary-care providers for thousands of emergency workers and residents, because the twister destroyed the local clinic and hospital. We helped set up an intermediate healthcare facility that will serve the small farming community for several years. At the anniversary celebration, we witnessed local health officials and community leaders break ground on the future hospital, which should be completed in 2010. The community is striving to be the first “all green,” environmentally friendly town in America. Greensburg is on its way to restoration.
