HHI is providing relief aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Patricia – one of the strongest storms ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere.

On October 22, 2015, within a matter of hours, Hurricane Patricia developed into a monster storm off the southern Pacific coast of Mexico.  Strengthening into a Category-5 with winds topping 200mph it bore down on the Mexican states of Jalisco and Colima.

Patricia made landfall on Friday evening, October 23, 2015 as a tightly wrapped Cat-5 storm with 165mph sustained winds.  Once the storm struck land, it quickly fell apart and moved across Mexico into the U.S. as a tropical weather system.

HHI’s Response

In the hours before the eye of the storm made landfall – HHI readied a team for deployment to the hurricane zone to work within the relief effort, and coordinated with the Mexican government and partner organizations to provide medical aid and other supplies needed by the people affected by Hurricane Patricia.

A shipment of aid – 18 pallets of HHI Care Kits, pediatric medicine, and medical supplies – was rapidly assembled at HHI’s Operations Hub and prepped for shipping to partners in Mexico to aid in relief efforts.
