We deliver critical medicines and medical supplies to families
displaced by conflict, because access to healthcare shouldn’t
end when a crisis begins.

When conflicts and civil unrest disrupt a region, the impact on local communities is profound and far-reaching. Families are often forced to uproot their lives, leaving behind their homes, livelihoods, and the support systems they rely on. Amidst this upheaval, access to basic necessities—such as hygiene items, critical medication, and routine medical care—becomes incredibly scarce. For those managing chronic illnesses, caring for children, or recovering from injuries, this disruption creates a secondary health crisis. Without intervention, displaced populations and affected communities face severe vulnerabilities to preventable diseases and long-term health complications.
Heart to Heart International remains committed to providing access to vital healthcare for families in conflict zones. Our work over the past decades has ensured that quality care remains accessible for communities affected by humanitarian crises around the globe.
Our response to global conflicts is agile, collaborative, and driven by the specific needs of the affected communities. We operate through a proven framework to ensure aid is both effective and sustainable:
Monitor and Assess: We continuously monitor the situation to understand the scope of the crisis and evaluate emerging humanitarian needs.
Coordinate with Local Partners: We reach out directly to trusted partners on the ground to determine the exact realities and how we can most effectively assist.
Deliver Critical Supplies: Through our local partner networks, we ship targeted medical aid, essential medicines, and hygiene kits directly into conflict zones.
Deploy Portable Clinics: When local healthcare infrastructure is compromised and conditions allow, we ship fully equipped, portable medical clinics to bridge the gap in healthcare access.
Commitment to Long-Term Support: We keep our response active for as long as the need remains. For extended crises, such as those in Ukraine and Haiti, we commit to long-term programs focused on the rehabilitation and continuous support of local healthcare infrastructure.

Our commitment to Haiti spans more than a decade of navigating natural disasters and acute social unrest. In the face of ongoing gang violence and political instability, we continue to stand with Haitian communities. To date, we have delivered over $437 million in medical aid and nearly 60,000 hygiene kits across Haiti. Our response focuses on improving maternal and child health, supporting local schools with health education, and upgrading sanitation systems to prevent cholera outbreaks. To keep local clinics operational under extreme duress, we partner with organizations like Food For The Poor and Airlink to fly in shipments of hygiene kits and personal protective equipment, prioritizing the physical safety and resource security of Haitian healthcare workers.
Since the escalation of violence in 2022, we have executed a massive, multi-year medical supply chain operation to support the people of Ukraine. To combat the destruction of local clinics, we partnered with Clinic in a Can to deliver solar-powered, fully equipped portable medical clinics directly to liberated and heavily damaged communities, immediately restoring primary care access. Our multi-year response in Ukraine has provided over $407 million in aid, more than 195,000 hygiene kits, and 15 portable medical clinics to restore primary healthcare access. Through key partnerships, we continue to deliver regular shipments filled with chronic disease medications, trauma supplies, and thousands of hygiene kits to frontline hospitals, community clinics and regional distribution hubs.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, we have delivered over $4.9 million in critical medical relief and distributed 6,000 hygiene kits. In regions of the DRC where long-term, complex conflict intersects with deadly infectious disease outbreaks, we step in to fortify local health systems. Our historic responses to Ebola epidemics focus heavily on epidemic mitigation. We deliver vital personal protective equipment, medical sanitation supplies, and infection-prevention training to regional clinics, ensuring local medical staff can safely treat patients and prevent localized outbreaks from turning into uncontrollable regional health crises.
Amidst catastrophic conditions and severe shortages of basic resources in Gaza, we focused our efforts on the health, safety, and dignity of displaced women and girls. We have delivered over $561,000 in targeted aid and more than 74,000 specialized hygiene kits to Gaza. Partnering with on-the-ground distribution networks, we sent critical shipments of health and hygiene kits specifically assembled with menstrual hygiene management products, soap, and clean water supplies. By prioritizing these specialized supplies, we helped prevent widespread infections in overcrowded shelters, protecting the health of vulnerable populations who have lost access to basic sanitation.

To support populations displaced by conflict in Sudan, we have distributed 36,000 hygiene kits and delivered over $256,000 in humanitarian aid. The complex humanitarian crisis in Sudan has created an unprecedented internal displacement emergency. We are actively responding to this crisis by supporting mobile health clinics that travel directly to camps and remote settlements, delivering primary care to families who are completely cut off from traditional hospitals. To halt the spread of waterborne illnesses and maintain basic public health, we pair these clinical services with large-scale distributions of emergency hygiene kits, ensuring displaced families have the physical resources to stay clean and healthy.
Amid conflict and displacement, access to healthcare is more than a logistical challenge. It is a fundamental human right. Our work goes beyond delivering boxes of medicine and supplies; it is about restoring dignity, alleviating suffering, and showing families that they are not forgotten. By standing alongside our local partners and reinforcing regional health systems, we do more than respond to today’s emergencies—we help communities build resilience for tomorrow. Together, we are working to ensure that even in the most difficult circumstances, health, healing, and hope continue to reach those who need it most.

I volunteer, along with others, who have a common goal. To help and support the staff as they organize then head out across the globe with hygiene kits, medicines and mobile clinics. When a request comes in for help from HHI, staff is ready and willing to help but it also takes many volunteers and donations to support this goal.

Great organization helping folks in the USA and wherever needed around the world.

I read a lot of news every day because I want to know what is going on around me and in the world. Being aware of the many disasters and injustices can feel like a huge burden to carry. Volunteering at Heart to Heart gives me the sense that I am helping in a small way and I’m not just involved with my own stuff.

As I’m aging, I realized how blessed I’ve been in so many ways. In my younger years, I worked a lot with the homeless community. As I’m aging I wanted to still give back to my community but do it closer to my home. I volunteered at Heart to Heart with a church group and decided I liked their mission. I’m just one person, but uniting with a group like Heart to Heart I can do so much more.

I feel so privileged to be able to help anyone in need. I’ve learned so much from people who are humbled by life’s struggles. As one person told me, “we’re all just one disaster from homelessness.” Every person should volunteer at least once in their life.

I love to provide quality time in service. Service is at the core of my being. My parents taught me when I was a child to never stop serving and loving people.

Volunteering helps me to feel that I am moving forward in a positive way and that my contribution has some purpose especially in these times of great hardship and suffering for so many people.

I love being able to do something for others especially in a real time of need. Serving fills my cup and blesses my heart. It never ceases to amaze me that in the middle of all the tragedy, those we serve always thank us for being there.

Volunteering reminds me that healing doesn’t always come in big moments; it often shows up in simple acts of kindness, shared humanity, and showing up for people when they feel forgotten. That’s why I’m proud to serve.
