Volunteer Spotlight: Faye Celestino

Heart to Heart International’s medical teams are filled with volunteers who strive to positively impact other people’s lives. Faye Celestino is one of those people. She traveled coast to coast, trading Southern California for North Carolina, and has spent the past week supporting the disaster relief efforts as a registered nurse following Hurricane Florence.

This was not Faye’s first trip with our organization. She first supported HHI on a trip to Houston, Texas, after Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Her effervescent love for people, her passion for medicine, and her intense desire to bring help and healing was obvious to all, including Dr. Andre Gvozden. During their time working together in Houston, he saw her passion and genuine care for people. He encouraged Faye to consider focusing her career on pediatrics.

That idea took hold.  She is now studying pediatric medicine.

Impact is never a one-way street. Volunteering to bring medical relief to those in need not only changes the lives of those affected by natural disasters, but it also affects the lives of those who offer up their time and talents. The direction of Faye’s life was changed forever on a response with HHI as she sought to impact the lives of others. And, it’s because of people like Faye and Dr. Gvozden that Heart to Heart International can impact people whose lives have been turned upside down and provide not only healthcare but also hope, dignity, and love

Support Heart to Heart International and you could impact not only the world, but also yourself.
