Disaster Response Team
When a major disaster strikes, HHI deploys a team of highly qualified responders equipped to rapidly respond as a self-contained emergency medical team.
The Disaster Response Team (DRT) works in disaster zones to provide medical care, including triage, first aid, stabilization and referral of severe trauma, as well as basic emergency care of pediatrics, obstetrics and mental health needs. Backed by top-notch HHI logistic support, DRT members can focus on the task at hand – helping the survivors of a disaster.
If you are a medical or logistic professional with international response experience or similar skills, we want you! Medical and logistics professionals include Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Mental Health Professionals, EMT/Paramedics, Physical Therapists, Logistics, Drivers (CDL license preferred), and Media Specialists.
Step 1: Complete the application & supplemental information required.
Step 2: Complete phone interviews.
Step 3: Complete background check.
Step 4: Provide additional required paperwork.
Step 5: Attend a DRT workshop located in Kansas City and complete required online training.
Step 6: Deploy to disaster as a member of the Heart to Heart International – Disaster Response Team.
Please note: Applications for the DRT will be addressed on a first-come, first serve basis and the process can
take anywhere from three weeks to two months, based on interview availability. During a disaster response, Heart to Heart staff will be unable to interview applicants. The application process will begin once HHI has demobilized from disaster and are able to review applications.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Heart to Heart International.
