Hurricane Melissa Response

Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica as a catastrophic Category 5 storm caused extensive damage, with flooding, winds, and mudslides leaving some people stranded and without healthcare.

Heart to Heart International mobilized. We are using our decades of disaster expertise (proven in previous Caribbean hurricane responses like Dorian, Maria, and Matthew) to deliver help.
  • Medical Team Deployed  At the request of the Jamaican Ministry of Health, our Emergency Medical Team (EMT) deployed to the island to provide direct treatment and critical healthcare services at two clinic locations in the severely damaged St. James parish region. The team saw a total of 840 patients throughout 23 clinic days.

  • Massive Aid Delivery We delivered over 43,000 hygiene kits alongside medicines and medical aid to areas impacted by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica and Dominican Republic. This ensured that impacted communities could maintain health in the aftermath of the storm.
