Program Overview
Hygiene kits are vital to our humanitarian aid work. They are distributed in the immediate aftermath of disasters, as part of ongoing crisis responses and to under-resourced communities. This entire effort is made possible by our dedicated volunteers, who come together to assemble each and every kit, and funding from sponsors.
Why Hygiene Kits?
Hygiene kits address a fundamental need for health and well-being. More than just soap and a toothbrush, these kits are a powerful tool for preventing the spread of illness and disease in crowded or unsanitary conditions. By providing these essential items, we help keep families healthy. A hygiene kit might seem like a small gesture, but when offered to someone in need, it represents hope and health.

How to Participate in the Hygiene Kit Program
Individual & Families
Join our community sessions held twice a month at our Lenexa, Kansas,headquarters. These Saturday and Thursday events area great wayfor individuals and families to get involved.
Coordinate ahygienekit assembly for your nonprofit or small group. Join us during business hours on Tuesday-Thursday in Lenexa or explore sponsorship options to unlock additional dates and times.
We offer a variety of ways for Kansas City businesses to engage their teams and make a global impact right from our local community. Our programs are designed with flexibility in mind, offering a range of options that vary by group size,locationand scheduling needs.
Sponsor a hygiene kit assembly at the location of your choice. We bring the mission to you, providing a meaningful, hands-on experience for your team anywhere in the country.
Our partners at Tampa Bay Street Medicine distributed our hygiene kits to those in need and affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. They shared with us that the kits were “a big hit on our street run Friday night and the refugee clinic” and are “making an impactful difference in our community!
Light of Reformation, Ukraine
Olena, a single mother to two young girls, fled her home in Okhtyrka, Ukraine, after Russia began its attacks. They moved to live with her mother in a rented apartment in the western part of Ukraine. The family has been receiving medicine, food and hygiene products, including our hygiene kits, through a network of aid organizations. With the high cost of rent, utilities, diapers and formula, Olena says the provided aid has been a lifesaver for her and her family as they try to navigate their new life.
Catholic Medical Foundation
We, with our partners in Lebanon, delivered the hygiene kits we received to refugee villages, slums, and patients in the hospitals throughout Beirut. Everyone was so appreciative. The smallest things make the biggest difference.

Brian Sink
Vice President – Hygiene Kit Program
Brian Sink joined HHI after three years of volunteering for the organization in the warehouse and hygiene kits programs. His professional background includes 24 years at Sprint Communications (now T-Mobile), where he developed expertise in process design, product management, and project management. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Pennsylvania State University. Brian’s transition to the nonprofit sector was inspired by his experiences supporting underserved communities. In his role as Vice President of Hygiene Kits, he oversees the development and implementation of the organization’s hygiene kits initiatives. He is driven by the dynamic nature of HHI’s work and the opportunity to make a tangible difference.
