Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica as a catastrophic Category 5 storm caused extensive damage, with flooding, winds, and mudslides leaving some people stranded and without healthcare.
Heart to Heart International is fully mobilized. We are using our decades of disaster expertise (proven in previous Caribbean hurricane responses like Dorian, Maria, and Matthew) to deliver help now.
Medical Team Deployed – At the request of the Jamaican Ministry of Health, our Emergency Medical Team (EMT) has been deployed to the island. They are providing direct treatment and critical healthcare services at two clinic locations in the severely damaged St. James parish region. The team has already seen more than 718 patients since Nov. 13th.
Massive Aid Delivery – We have already delivered over 43,000 hygiene kits to areas impacted by Hurricane Melissa. This massive wave of humanitarian aid is ensuring that displaced families have essential supplies to maintain health in the aftermath of the storm. Subsequent shipments of essential medicines and additional humanitarian supplies are already being prepared.
