Delivering Critical Aid to Sudan’s Crisis-Affected Communities

Critical Aid to Sudan

As Sudan grapples with an ever-worsening humanitarian crisis, we have once again partnered with the Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA) to bring urgent aid to those most affected.

The ongoing conflict has displaced nearly 250,000 people in Sharg Alnile, leaving them with severely limited access to essential services like healthcare, food and clean water. This has led to widespread disease outbreaks and alarming rates of malnutrition, especially among children under five, pregnant women and nursing mothers.

Last year, we partnered with SAPA to distribute 18,000 hygiene kits to internally displaced persons across various regions of Sudan. These kits, containing vital supplies like soap, toothpaste, and toothbrushes, provided essential resources to maintain personal hygiene and prevent the spread of disease for families displaced by the conflict, addressing immediate needs and contributing to long-term health.

Now, through our expanded partnership, we will be supporting SAPA’s mobile health clinics delivering primary healthcare, vaccinations, maternal and child health services, and essential medicines to displaced individuals. Because clean water, sanitation, and hygiene are fundamental to health, the project will also focus on critical WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) services, including rehabilitating water sources and constructing much-needed sanitation facilities.

In addition, HHI will be sending an shipment of 18,000 hygiene kits. These kits are vital in preventing the spread of diseases in crowded IDP camps. Furthermore, a targeted supplementary feeding program will address the urgent needs of malnourished children and pregnant/lactating women.

By adopting a community-based approach and engaging local leaders, this project is set to directly benefit over 11,000 crisis-affected individuals, prioritizing women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. We are committed to easing suffering and providing life-saving health, nutrition, and WASH services to these communities.
