Since fighting erupted in April 2023, Sudan has faced the world’s largest displacement crisis. A staggering 14.3 million people have been forced to flee their homes, and the country now faces a severe hunger emergency and a deadly cholera outbreak. With famine conditions confirmed in some areas, children are bearing the brunt of the suffering, facing life-threatening malnutrition and an uncertain future.
In the midst of this overwhelming crisis, Heart to Heart International is proud to partner with the Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA) to bring vital relief directly to those in need through mobile medical clinics.
The mobile clinics are providing a range of services, including:
- Screening for childhood malnutrition
- Early detection and provision of essential medicines
- Maternal and child health support
- Immunization services
- Health education and nutrition services
In just the past three weeks alone, the clinics have reached an incredible number of people in the East Nile locality of Khartoum Province: 870 beneficiaries in Mahs Katrang, 749 in Um Dom, and 483 in the Al Wahda area. This effort is also complemented by our distribution of almost 20,000 hygiene kits to those impacted by the crisis.
Every number represents a real person seen by the medical care teams. For example, a recent case involved Majtaba Musaba, a 6-year-old who arrived at the clinic suffering from malaria. Thanks to the swift diagnosis and treatment he received with the clinic staff, Majtaba was able to leave the clinic in stable condition, proving that critical healthcare can be delivered even in the most difficult circumstances.
