Heart to Heart International responded to the flash floods in Texas with an assessment team and critical medical aid. Post-disaster, we are helping strengthen local clinics and training frontline healthcare workers.
HHI’s Response to Texas Flash Flooding

HHI’s Work After Unprecedented Flash Flooding in Texas
Heart to Heart International promptly responded to the devastation caused by flash floods in Texas.
Immediately after the response, we distributed essential medical supplies, including:
6,475 hygiene kits
Medical supplies like gauze, bandages, sutures, wound care items, and anti-bacterial sanitizing wipes
DripDrop Oral Rehydration Salts and electrolyte solutions
Our first shipment of 900 hygiene kits and medical supplies arrived in Texas on July 8, delivered to Biguns Hope. A second shipment of 1,800 hygiene kits was delivered to our partners Rise Against Hunger. Another 2,775 hygiene kits were distributed at the Hunt Volunteer Fire Department and Center Point Volunteer Fire Department supporting first responders and community volunteers engaged in ongoing search and recovery effort.
Our partners at BD built an additional 1,000 hygiene kits in San Antonio, Texas. These kits were distributed at:
- City West Church Emergency Resource Center
- Salvation Army Kerrville
- First Presbyterian Church Kerrville
- Christian Assistance Ministry Kerr County
- Community distribution point in Ingram
Additionally, we deployed an assessment team to Texas, from July 13 to July 17, 2025, to identify urgent health needs, evaluate long-term community support opportunities such as WASH and point-of-care diagnostic services, establish partnerships with clinics and health centers, and gather content to raise awareness and guide our ongoing flood relief efforts.
We have remained connected with the local clinics and are making ongoing efforts to strengthen the available medical services. We will continue to support the affected families and communities in Texas.
We remain committed to providing support to the communities affected by the Texas flash flooding on the long road to recovery. Our program teams are working closely with local clinics, organizations, and partner nonprofits in Texas to help strengthen the critical medical services in the hardest hit areas.
Point-of-Care Lab Install in Texas
When the July 4th flash floods hit, we saw firsthand how difficult it was for families in this rural area to access care. We realized that for this community to truly recover, they needed better medical tools close to home. That is why we installed a new point-of-care lab at the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic in January 2026. This allows patients to see a provider, have their labs taken, and receive their lab tests results before they even leave the clinic. By providing these immediate results, the clinic can initiate treatment plans instantly, drastically improving follow-up care and health outcomes for patients who otherwise face geographic and financial barriers to medical services.

Disaster Response Training for Frontline Healthcare Workers
As a way of supporting Texas clinics following the devastating floods in the summer of 2025, HHI sponsored the Texas Association of Charitable Clinics Regional Leadership Summits. At the two events in January 2026, we focused on training frontline healthcare workers in disaster preparedness. Members of the HHI Disaster Response Team traveled to Texas to provide hands-on training for disaster scenarios, helping clinic teams build the confidence to manage future emergencies. Participants were also invited to tour HHI’s state-of-the-art 45-foot Mobile Medical Unit, which features treatment rooms, a pharmacy, and specialized counseling areas. HHI also offered all clinics the opportunity to receive Healthcare Worker Disaster Preparedness kits for their staff. This all works to ensure these dedicated professionals have the support they deserve to keep their doors open, no matter what the weather brings.
