Change the World. Change Yourself.

Heart to Heart International depends on people volunteering their time and talents to help us fulfill our mission to improve global health.  Every year, hundreds of people from all walks of life join us to make a positive impact on this world in a variety of ways.  You can too!  Find an opportunity below and connect to a world in need!

Heart to Heart International has committed to run an Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) in Liberia… and we need you to help us!

We expect to operate this ETU for up to a year, possibly even longer.  To help run it, we need: physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses.

A minimum of 6 weeks – includes travel time, a week of in-country Ebola & ETU protocol training, and 4 weeks working in the ETU.
Can’t deploy right now?  That’s OK, we have continuing opportunities and can schedule you months out to allow you to plan.

The ETU is an inpatient facility and will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  There will be two 6-hour shifts during the day, and one 12-hour night shift.
Volunteers must be willing to work whatever shift they are assigned.
Volunteers, depending on their role, may be required to wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suits.
HHI volunteers will work with a staff of Liberian nationals to provide excellent patient care.
HHI volunteers will follow very strict protocols for the protection of themselves, staff and patients.
HHI will provide all medical supplies and PPE for all staff.
Our expectation is that we will begin operation of the ETU in November 2014.

Expenses for travel, food and lodging will be covered by HHI.
Volunteers must be up to date with all inoculations for foreign travel, including Yellow Fever, which is required for entry into Liberia.  See the CDC website for a complete list.
Volunteers will be working in very harsh conditions so they must be healthy and in good physical shape.
A letter from your physician stating your health and restrictions, if any, will be required.
Liberia is a hot, tropical environment and the challenges of the Ebola battle are great, so volunteers must be physically and mentally fit.  You must be ready for this.

If you are interested in volunteering to help stop the Ebola Epidemic, please fill out this form and we will contact you with further information.

Doctor w Patient - HaitiHAITI

Join A Medical Team

Travel to Haiti to work alongside Haitian doctors and nurses providing care to patients of all ages.  Heart to Heart International operates 14 clinics across Haiti and as a medical professional you will likely visit several of them.  This service opportunity usually follows two paths (needs and details are subject to change):

  • l’Ouest or The West:  This volunteer track takes you on a rotation between clinics in downtown Port-au-Prince, rural Leogane and into the mountains to the town of Fondwa.  Volunteers are usually based at the main HHI Volunteer Center, la Maison, in Petionville, a suburb on the edge of Port-au-Prince.
  • Sud-est or The Southeast:  On this track you will find yourself on quite the adventure as you load into a 4-wheel-drive SUV and head into the remote and rugged mountains of Southeast Haiti.  At the end of a nearly day-long journey you will arrive at Cascade Pichon, a community literally at the end of the road and under a towering waterfall.  Here you’ll also find a HHI clinic and a warm and friendly community.

Whichever path you follow, you’ll apply your skills alongside fellow professionals and other volunteers, and you’ll be helping to expand access to healthcare for the people of Haiti.

Volunteer Cost:  $99/day
Trip Duration:  One week minimum (Arriving on Saturday, departing the following Saturday)

Begin your Volunteer application process and join us in Haiti.  A volunteer coordinator will soon be in touch to discuss further details including available dates, certifications and more!
