Essential Hygiene Kits to Immigrant and Refugee Families

Last Thursday, Heart to Heart International’s Community Health team had the privilege of attending the Northgate Middle School ELL Family Night in North Kansas City. This event served as an opportunity for immigrant and refugee families to access essential items, free of charge, such as clothing, housewares, toys and hygiene products. The evening was marked by the spirit of unity, support, and generosity, and it left a lasting impact on all those involved.

A Gathering of Diversity: The event welcomed approximately 120 attendees, representing an array of countries and languages. Interpreters were on hand to bridge communication gaps, ensuring that everyone could make the most of the resources available. Some of the countries and languages represented included:

  • Sudan, Arabic
  • Saudi Arabia, Arabic
  • Dominican Republic, Spanish
  • Guatemala, Spanish
  • Mexico, Spanish
  • Afghanistan, Dari (Persian)
  • Afghanistan, Pashto
  • Haiti, Haitian Creole
  • Tajikistan, Russian
  • Cuba, Spanish
  • Micronesia, Pohnpeian and Chuukese
  • Iraq, Arabic
  • Honduras, Spanish
  • Eritrea, Tigrinya
  • Pakistan, Pashto
  • Thailand, Thai
  • Somalia, Somali

We were honored to participate in this important event and distribute hygiene kits to the attending families. These kits contain essential items that play a crucial role in promoting health and well-being, especially in challenging circumstances that many of these families have faced. We are grateful for the generosity of our supporters who made it possible for us to provide these vital resources to those in need.

The Northgate Middle School ELL Family Night highlighted the positive impact that can be achieved when communities come together to support one another, regardless of their cultural or linguistic backgrounds.
