One Year Impact: Earthquake Recovery in Türkiye and Syria

February 6th, 2023, a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake tore through regions of Türkiye and northern Syria, leaving a trail of destruction and displacing millions. In the face of this tragedy, Heart to Heart International immediately joined a global effort to provide critical aid to those affected.

Immediate Response:

The urgency of the situation demanded a swift response. We mobilized our resources and partnered with established organizations operating in the region. Working together, we delivered more than $1.3 million worth of vital supplies, including:

  • Essential Medicines and Supplies: Ensuring access to medicine during a crisis is critical. HHI provided essential medication to replenish depleted stocks and treat the injured.
  • 50,000 Hygiene Kits: The earthquake disrupted water and sanitation infrastructure, leaving many without access to basic hygiene essentials. These kits provided crucial items like shampoo, toothpaste, and soap to help prevent the spread of disease.
  • 3 Portable Container Clinics: Medical attention is a necessity even long after an initial disaster. These clinics, equipped with vital equipment and staffed by dedicated professionals, offer much-needed medical care to thousands.

The Ongoing Impact:

Even a year later, the people of Türkiye and Syria continue to grapple with the aftermath of the earthquake. We are deeply grateful for the incredible collaboration with our on-the-ground partners who have tirelessly served their communities. Their expertise and dedication have been crucial in ensuring that our aid reaches those who need it most.
