Maui Wildfire Response Update

Devastating wildfires ravaged Maui in August, causing extensive destruction, killing at least 115 people and displacing thousands more. Heart to Heart International’s Disaster Response Team immediately coordinated with multiple partners on the island, ultimately sending more than 4,000 hygiene kits in addition to medical supplies to four different organizations helping people impacted by these fires. Helping Restore Quality of Life in Guatemala

Berta is a hardworking 41-year-old street vendor in Guatemala whose health challenges were making her daily life a struggle. Her constant headaches and fatigue made it hard for her to work, affecting her income and her family’s well-being. These symptoms were eventually diagnosed as indicators of thyroid dysfunction. Unfortunately, her community has limited resources and lacked affordable and accessible medication for individuals like Berta. Türkiye Hygiene Kit Distribution

An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale struck Türkiye and Syria in February, killing nearly 60,000 people and left millions displaced. More than 1.5 million are still displaced in Türkiye and living in large tent communities with poor sanitation conditions. We were told: “hygiene kits are desperately needed in Türkiye.”

Through our partnership with Global Empowerment Mission, thousands of these families received hygiene kits, which provided critical basic care and hygiene items. Read more!

Hurricane Idalia Update

Hurricane Idalia made landfall on the coast of Florida as a powerful Category 3 storm on August 30 with sustained winds of 125 mph. The record-breaking storm surge from Idalia engulfed Florida cities from Tampa to Big Bend. HHI’s Disaster Response Team collaborated with local organizations to determine the needs of those in the affected communities. So far, HHI has sent 6,000 hygiene kits to help people impacted by this storm. Read more.

Making a Difference in Lebanon
Heart to Heart International delivers medicines and medical supplies to countries around the world through its Access to Medicine program. One of those partners is the Catholic Medical Foundation in Lebanon, which cares for people who do not have the ability to pay for healthcare. HHI distributed wheelchairs, transport chairs and other critical medical equipment to this organization to help provide for their elderly population.
