Mobilizing to Aid California Wildfire Survivors

The recent wildfires in California have caused widespread destruction, forcing hundreds of thousands of people from their homes and leaving communities in ruins. These fires, fueled by strong winds and dry conditions, have been described as the most destructive natural disaster in Los Angeles County history by Fire Chief Kristin Crowley.

A Humanitarian Crisis Unfolds

Terrifying scenes emerged across the region as tens of thousands of people fled out-of-control blazes. Nearly 45,000 acres have already been burned throughout the region, along with several thousand
structures.

Heart to Heart International’s Response

In the face of this crisis, Heart to Heart International mobilized its Disaster Response Team to provide critical aid to those affected by the wildfires. We have reached out to 78 partner organizations to coordinate relief efforts, assess needs and offer aid. This includes:

  • Distributing hygiene kits: Providing essential items like soap, shampoo, and toothpaste to help people maintain good hygiene and prevent the spread of disease. The initial shipments of kits are on their way to partners, including Convoy of Hope, Project Hope and Rise Against Hunger.
  • Supporting local organizations: Partnering with local organizations to ensure that aid reaches those most in need.

As this crisis continues to unfold, we anticipate further requests for essential supplies, including hygiene kits and other critical aid. Your support is crucial in helping us provide vital assistance to those impacted by these devastating fires.
