When Hurricane Ian crashed into the west coast of Florida last week, we were able to respond thanks to the incredible support of our donors. Your generosity and compassion means we can provide healthcare services, medicines and supplies to people in the aftermath of disasters.

Responding to Hurricane Ian

The HHI medical team is in Arcadia, Florida, to provide healthcare to a community that was already under-resourced and was then hit hard by Hurricane Ian. Working in coordination with the DeSoto County Emergency Operations Center, the team is set up to provide medical services alongside a distribution center offering food, water and supplies.

We have partnered with the University of Kansas Integrated Marketing Communications research class to analyze what can make nonprofit organizations like ours successful. Hurriance Fiona in Puerto Rico
Sustainability is one of our core values. When HHI was in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Fiona last month, team members checked on one of our post-Hurricane Maria projects. In a collaboration with Water Mission, we had installed solar-powered wells that are still delivering clean and safe drinking water to rural communities today, even after an earthquake and hurricane.

Medicines and supplies to Sri Lanka

Working in coordination with the Sri Lankan Embassy, Heart to Heart International has sent more than $9 million in medicines and medical supply to help the people of Sri Lanka.

HHI Board Member Carla Duryee met with Sri Lanka Ambassador to the US Mahinda Samarasingheh at the embassy in Washington, DC, to commemorate the donations of aid. Read more!

Supporting health clinics with laboratory services

Six U.S. free and charitable clinics have been awarded grants to support point-of-care diagnostic laboratory testing in communities with underserved and at-risk patient populations.

This initiative provides the clinics with laboratory equipment to evaluate patients and receive diagnostic test results while still onsite, reducing some of the barriers to healthcare access faced by the community. Read more about this important program.

The program is a partnership between HHI, BD, Henry Schein Cares, and the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics.
