Tonight, the U.S. Men’s National Team takes the pitch against Türkiye in an exciting World Cup matchup. While we are waving our flags and rooting for a fantastic game, the excitement also has us looking back at the incredible teamwork happening right here in our home country.
It’s a common misconception that we only work overseas because of the word “International” in our name. In reality, we’ve delivered nearly $97 million in aid to all 50 states and 3 U.S. territories since 2007. We work hand-in-hand with local partners to ensure that individuals and families facing barriers to healthcare have the resources they need to stay healthy.
Domestic Impact: By the Numbers
Our domestic programs focus on immediate relief and long-term resilience. Last year alone:
- 32 States Served: Provided critical medicines, medical aid and supplies to communities nationwide.
- Disaster Response: Deployed resources to help those impacted by California wildfires, Texas flash floods, and severe storms across the Midwest and Southeast.
- 9 Newly Installed Labs: Installed 9 new point-of-care laboratories in 8 states (bringing our total to 66), allowing safety-net clinics to run diagnostics for immediate diagnosis and treatment plans.
Real Stories from the Field
From health education at Native American health events and vision screenings in elementary schools, to providing vaccinations for unhoused individuals, our work adapts to what local communities need most. And the shipments of medicines and labs are changing lives in real-time:
- In Chicago: Mobile Care Chicago used these labs to quickly identify prediabetes and lead exposure in children, allowing clinical teams to provide instant guidance to parents and prevent potential hospitalizations.
- In Kansas City: We provided essential mobility equipment to our partners at Care Beyond the Boulevard, who were able to distribute them and help break down barriers to wellness. They told us: “To be able to have wheelchairs to give people when they need them is a gamechanger. It ensures they have what they need to get to the services they need.”
- In Texas: Through our partnership with Health For All in Bryan, Texas, we provided Angela, a hardworking mother of three, with over-the-counter medication for severe chronic acid reflux. Unable to afford treatment without insurance, she can now sleep through the night and has the energy to keep up with her kids.
- In Tennessee: At Charis Health Center, a patient who had struggled for years with chronic health challenges saw his A1C levels stabilize and his mental wellbeing improve thanks to real-time feedback.
- In North Carolina: Our partners at NC MedAssist shared the story of a young mother-to-be who had run out of prenatal vitamins with no means to buy more. Through their Free OTC Store and Mobile Free OTC Giveaway events, she found the exact support she needed.
As visitors from around the world enjoy the incredible foods and diverse cultures across the U.S. during this World Cup, we are proud to support the resilient, resourceful communities that make this country so special.
