Humanitarian Day Wrap-Up

On Saturday, May 14, more than 500 people came out to Heart to Heart International’s headquarters to be a “Humanitarian for a day” at our Humanitarian Day event to celebrate our 30th anniversary.

We were thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome the Kansas City community to our headquarters where they could tour the disaster response fleet vehicles and assemble hygiene kits that will be distributed to people in need throughout the world.

We also unveiled our new mobile medical van, sponsored by FedEx. This van will help our disaster response team bring health access to people in need after disasters.

Individuals and groups, including families, sports teams, co-workers, and more, took the time to assemble hygiene kits, some people even staying for multiple hour-long shifts. These hygiene kits are filled with necessary items, including toothpaste, toothbrushes, nail clippers, soap, washcloths, etc.  Heart to Heart International and our partners will distribute these kits to people in need after disasters or crises, including to the people of Ukraine.

When the assembly got to be a little too much for some of the littlest humanitarians, they were able to take a break and color some pictures that will be placed in the boxes of hygiene kits that are sent to help people in Ukraine.

COVID-19 vaccinations were also available at the event. These were available for all eligible adults and children for their 1st, 2nd and booster doses.

And of course, the day wouldn’t have been complete without some delicious food from local food trucks.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the event! We had a great time meeting so many members of our community, and we hope you had a great time being a humanitarian for a day!
