New Mobile Medical Unit

Heart to Heart International has an exciting New Year’s arrival: a brand new Mobile Medical Unit!

As the largest vehicle in our now eight-vehicle fleet, this new 45-foot unit will bring medical supplies, medicine, equipment, and staff to sites of disasters all across the continental United States.

This Mobile Medical Unit helps fulfill one of our primary missions: to quickly and efficiently provide on-the-spot medical treatment for people in need. The ability to bring healthcare to people in need is critical to delivering timely healthcare to patients after disasters.

This new Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) provides improved patient treatment, better privacy and enhanced safety and accessibility (including a wheelchair lift). The unit’s interior features two patient treatment areas as well as separate patient assessment, pharmacy and counseling spaces.

HHI disaster response team members participated in a training on Tuesday, January 3 to learn the proper use and functionality of the new Mobile Medical Unit.

The new Mobile Medical Unit was sponsored by FedEx along with other private donors and was customized specifically for HHI’s needs.

With the addition of this unit, our eight-vehicle fleet now includes two MMUs, two vans, two pickup trucks, a trailer and a large box truck.
