Relief for Michigan Flooding

May 28, 2020 – Heart to Heart International is sending relief to those impacted by record flooding in Michigan. On May 19, the Governor of Michigan declared a state of emergency for Midland, Losco, Saginaw, Gladwin, and Arenac counties after floodwaters caused the Edenvill and Sanford dams to fail following heavy rain across the state. The floods have surpassed a high point of 33.9 feet set by a downpour in 1986, known as “the worst natural disaster in the state’s modern history.” Several Red Cross shelters have been opened in the area and approximately 10,000 residents are still displaced. Heart to Heart International is partnering with United Way Midland in Michigan to distribute hygiene kits to shelters and communities’ members who have been displaced by record flooding.
