Translation: “The market vendors are standing up to protect themselves against COVID-19”

Thousands of workers crowd into a open air markets across Haiti. Illnesses spread rapidly in these packed markets.

To help combat the spread of COVID-19, Heart to Heart International – Haiti is using Community Health Workers to train vendors in these markets on risk mitigation and infection prevention techniques. These health workers are being deployed in the markets and regions of the southeast of the country are educating the public on healthy lifestyles, hygiene practices, detection of COVID-19 related symptoms, and medical follow-up compliance. HHI has also established hand-washing spots throughout open-air markets outside of Port-au-Prince.
